Let's make sure their voices are heard
It is estimated that 100,000 people have been victims of cluster bombs since they were first used in 1965. 98% of the victims of cluster bombs are civilians. Children are particularly at risk, as they are often attracted to the bright colour and interesting shape of certain submunitions. 27% of the recorded victims are children.
The voices of survivors have played an important role in the campaign to ban these indiscriminate weapons. Their first-hand experience of the devastating effect of cluster bombs played a powerful part in influencing government representatives to sign the Convention on Cluster Munitions.
